I'm not sure about the views of the general assembly, but the committee votes don't seem to fit with the views of our congregation on many of the controversial topics. If the measure on non-geographic synods passes, it would seem to be the first step in splitting the denomination due to those differences. Perhaps some of the more traditional churches could join with the PCA churches that split off years ago?

I suggest several films. "Babettes Feast" by Axel, and Kieslowski's "The Decalog" provide a nice focus for this time. Also, the documentary "Into Great Silence" by Groning is a mesmerizing look into the lives of the Monks of Chartreuse. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgNj2Sf_mgo

My 10 year old son wants to watch "the passion of the christ", but I still think he's a little young for that. We enjoy "the true Easter story: the promise kept", which is video by Ray Vanderlaan from "That the World May Know". Of course the Veggietale "the Easter Carol" is great also. "Above All" is a song that I love to listen to, especially around Easter. The lyrics "like a rose trampled on the ground, You took the fall, and thought of me, above all" really touch me.

Our Home Group has been meeting every Monday for the past few months. We have been using Psalms, Prayers of the Heart (12 individual studies) Bible Study. We read one Psalm each week and thoroughly examine it and how it applies to our lives.

Each week we have one host family/adult and we have another non-hosting adult lead. That assures that at least two families will be there. Cool, huh? It works for our group!

Psalm 90 was our lesson this past Monday. How do we help ourselves and others around us deal with death? That's certainly one way to be the hands and feet of Jesus in this world! Thanks to the Holts for hosting and to Susan Foley for leading this week.

The Fire Station group had a great time! The kids in our group made a pile of sandwiches, salad and chili for the great folks at Fire Station #9. When we delievered it, the kids were treated to a tour of the station including a chance to explore the Fire Engine! Thanks to to the great people at Station #9 who truly served us on our day of service.

What fun we had at the dog park today. About a dozen of us gathered at University Lake dog park and offered hot chocolate, doggie treats, and Cookies, people treats, to the dog walkers passing by. We met some great people and fun energetic dogs who knew right where the box of dog treats were. At one point we had about twenty dogs and various owners visiting with us. People wanted to know where we were from and commented on how nice it was to receive the free treats. We all agreed that we would gladly do this again. Serving and loving dog lovers was a great experience.
