Easter Week Entertainment

Does anyone have a list of movies or music they recommend for listening/viewing during Easter week?

Vivaldi? Handel? Veggie Tales?

  1. My 10 year old son wants to watch "the passion of the christ", but I still think he's a little young for that. We enjoy "the true Easter story: the promise kept", which is video by Ray Vanderlaan from "That the World May Know". Of course the Veggietale "the Easter Carol" is great also. "Above All" is a song that I love to listen to, especially around Easter. The lyrics "like a rose trampled on the ground, You took the fall, and thought of me, above all" really touch me.

  2. I suggest several films. "Babettes Feast" by Axel, and Kieslowski's "The Decalog" provide a nice focus for this time. Also, the documentary "Into Great Silence" by Groning is a mesmerizing look into the lives of the Monks of Chartreuse. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgNj2Sf_mgo

Music- Faure's Requiem is great. The Messiah is a great Easter remembrance. Suprisingly, Andrew Peterson's "Behold the Lamb of God" works for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAyHhFjx4PM. I got the 2 disk set as an Amazon download for $7.99.
