How Can You Help? Anaktuvuk Pass Trip Needs YOU by Erin Kirkland

Trinity's team to Anaktuvuk Pass is busily preparing for their upcoming trip June 3-10. This is one of the highlights of the year for everybody, for those who make the long journey are witness to a life-changing week of study and fellowship with this small community. Can't go along this year? Mission trip members still need help.

Pray for those attending, that the Holy Spirit will be within and around them as they work with children, youth, and adults of AKP. Donate time or funds towards food and other expenses. Bake/freeze/pack homemade goodies for team members and the community.

LeeAnn Crumbley will be at the AKP table at Trinity this Sunday to answer questions and offer insight about this wonderful mission experience. Everyone is invited to reach out to our partner church.

More From Folks Ready to START>

Wonderful ideas keep coming in from those home groups participating in the latest study "Start>Becoming a Good Samaritan". Check this out...

The Henningsen's Home Group met on Thursday evening for session 2 of Start becomming a good Samaritan, Caring for the Sick. Tissues seemed to be a good thing to have on hand! During the "Now is the Time" discussion of how to put our faith into action, we felt called to focus on our Trinity family knowing that even here there may be folks without lots of resourses. We made a committment to examine the weekly prayer list, and get in touch with folks by sending cards first, to see if we could be of help. We will use one of our sessions to prepare meals to freeze and have on hand so we can offer that. It's not Africa, but we think there is a need :)

Helping Haiti: How You Can Contribute

As Haiti continues to struggle in the aftermath of a 7.2 magnitude earthquake that all but leveled the capital city of Port-Au-Prince, Haiti's largest city, it becomes even more important to know how we can assist in both immediate and longer-term ways.

Whenever a disaster occurs, there are a number of organizations that stand ready to provide basic supplies and services; medical care, shelter, and food. We here at home want to help, too, but often are unsure of how, and what to offer. In this age of internet donations, too, scam artists make a dishonest living by capitalizing on others' misfortuntes, and sometimes we are fooled by what seems to be a legitimate cry for help.

Many aid organizations have requested only money to help in these immediate efforts. In this tangible way, we the donors allow the staff to determine the greatest need and purchase any supplies needed. Below is a list of organizations most of us are familiar with if you or your family wishes to contribute. Their web sites will let you know if anything beyond cash is needed, and how and where to send these items.

I am sure I join hundreds of thousands of people who are praying for the continued efforts of all those involved with Haiti's rescue and relief efforts.
